I’ve been saying this! Reagan was even more unsteady and he was 10 years younger at the time. The difference was that Reagan’s stumbles were spun as part of his folksiness and charm, whereas Biden’s are spun as proof that he has Ebola.

This was more or less my mental frame in 2022 — Biden may lean on his staff slightly more than Obama did, but he is a competent manager & skilled communicator — but I think it is now worth watching videos of Reagan (including in the 1984 debate!) and videos of Biden and, uh, comparing them

Reagan was, at the time, the oldest president ever in his second term. He had hearing aids, colorectal cancer, skin cancer, Alzheimer's. And yet the right wingers around him pushed through a lot of their (abhorrent) priorities - tax cuts, Supremes, etc. - and still view him as their GOAT. 🤷♂️

At the size of the largest businesses in the US, there is no “economy of scale” benefit to consolidation. They are at maximum economy of scale. They’re already behemoths. The benefit of consolidation is just that fewer people get a choice, and so they get all the money.
