YouTube alleged a copyright claim I, the copyright owner of a piece of my own music, had made against myself for using it in a video I had made! That was weird.

Courtesy of Dr Gonzo on 3CR, Melbourne, a brief profile on my life in music broadcast a week ago, now available as a podcast or streamed direct. Things are grim but we can still create, write and produce beautiful and gutsy work.

Any of my students here, remember that awesome responsibility we have as media makers I keep banging on about?

@caitoz.bsky.social I was reminded of Steve Biko's words today when discussing Aaron Bushnell and Navalny.

Thanks in part to @molly.wiki 's experience migrating off Substack bsky.app/profile/moll... the beehiiv newsletter platform editor now has basic WYSIWYG support for footnotes/references (and some other stuff) We're making beehiiv friendlier for journalists and academics a bit at a time.

@caitoz.bsky.social says this shit with her whole chest! My god! We need more of this on the left; the level of absolute clarity every time we speak.
Im gonna go ahead and try to memorize this for later. Suggest you do the same (also follow her wherever it helps her get paid).

Do it. We survived well enough without them. Someone mentioned library services. Kanopy is great! Cinemas are better. I screen my own films at community centres, old halls, libraries and film societies. It's wonderful.

Poignant and powerful, it really doesn't get any stronger than this.
Initially, when I heard of Aaron's actions it broke my heart-but @caitoz.bsky.social is on point here saying that this should light a fire, in all of us, a fire that drives & motivates us. X
