my uncle spent summers working on MV in the 70s and recalls overhearing an exasperated guy in a bar complaining about how "the cameras keep falling in the water" & ā€œthat goddamn shark" wasnā€™t working. then jaws came out and he realized what he'd overheard.

Not particularly relevant but I was thinking the same about the 1980 Flash Gordon this morning, only because I havenā€™t seen it.

Maggie one year ago & now - this little monster has been part of our family since a year ago yesterday. He had been living in our garden for a while, we realized.

I panfried an experiment from the garden tonight- walking onion bulbs, lovage stalks & leaves, mustard greens, and dandelion greens, with olive oil and salt/pepper. No one was more surprised than I when it was good. I think it is activating some super powers, Iā€™ll let you know.

March 23 1933, the Enabling Act becomes law in Germany, giving the chief executive power enforce his own laws without checks and balances. The passing of the Act marked the formal transition from democratic republic to totalitarian dictatorship. 6 months later, it was a 1 party state.

Glad to see this from Kansas. There are historical records of sacred red boulders in Minnesota as well. One of them, from Eden Prairie, was returned to the Dakota recently.

Iā€™m guessing that I inadvertently started it but they have taken it to the next level (the bitey level). I would like to negotiate some sort of tiny ant accord.

Our lovage plant has become a monster (complimentary). Lots of pollinators bumbling around the very cool flowers, including an iridescent blue fly or bee that I couldnā€™t get a picture of.

Fun fact: The Plant Seed Co. of St. Louis, Missouri, was founded in 1845 by a man named William Plant.

It also had cool catalog art. Hereā€™s one from 1892.

Giant sequoias are the most massive trees on Earth. Some of these coniferous trees have been alive for over 3000 years. They are so large that you could create a tunnel big enough for a car to drive through. This severely damaged the tree and most tunneled trees have died except The Chandelier Tree
