Nobody special, but I dream. Author of LAGOONFIRE, THE INCONVENIENT GOD (both from Annorlunda Books), PEN PAL, various short stories. Sales of THE GOWN OF HARMONIES go to hunger relief.
Yeah, everyone's in different circumstances, becoming aware of things at different rates.
I get younger-you, though: sometimes a thing is so big and so central, you wonder, How could this not be in everyone's consciousness? But there are reasons, and the waking up is what counts.

I loved this, near the end: "Above them the fans of the windmills spun slowly, humming their song. It was nearing full moon, and the moonlight reflected off the many solar panels." But there are also candle days, because "even machines, inanimate objects, needed rest"--that empathy ^_^

I loved @jolantru.bsky.social's "The Barricade"--it's a thoughtful, imaginative, hopeful vision of the future. Lots of little touches I loved, like people repurposing old oil tankers.
There's a respect & empathy for all things. (1/2)

And it rewards reading! A carefully told story of an apparition. Very nice penultimate moment, and very nice ultimate moment, too--just right for the story. Good one, @seanbirnie.bsky.social! Good one, @interzone.press! interzone.press/iz-299/

I looked at this and saw the negative space: two upper teeth (sharpies) and two lower teeth (molars) in an open mouth. Whaaa?
Then I saw what I was supposed to see.
... Probably also relevant, I never saw the movie in question.

Fascinating--I latched onto this: "According to [environmental determinist] researchers, wet conditions would have been particularly advantageous to nomadic Mongol herders. Well, maybe, but like for most of Diamond’s assertions, there are any number of explanations."

I’ve left my landline so ghosts can’t dial me

"Possession" (Reckoning 6) is the tale of an encounter w/an Arctic-wide, human-possessing mycelial life form. Thx, @taracampbell.bsky.social, for putting it in my timeline!
As always w/alien encounters, what I liked was the use of language, reaching for understanding.
