The crazy thing is that the legal legislative support team who crafted the language of the bill, the sponsors, and the legislators who voted the bill are still around. The originalists could literally ask them what they meant.

The thing is, I'm sympathetic to the result. Criminal statutes should be interpreted narrowly. And, with the legislative history & there's a good argument that it's not meant to apply to this kind of conduct. But that's totally inconsistent with how they *say* they interpret statutes
