I started my career reporting on how people were using the Internet in dictatorships, and if there's one BIG thing I learned from talking to a bunch of people who literally had served jail time for political blogging, it was "choose your battles wisely, and don't say dumb things in dumb places."

"It was clear to me from the start that CIG didn't want people to work from home after the expense of their new Manchester office, and worked backwards from that to retroactively conjure up reasons why my request should be denied"

Happy birthday to these silly little guys. 13 years old!
They're both still active and happy cats and I love them to bits.

I really enjoyed Venba for what it was. It felt like a sweet, biographical video game and I loved that.
Well done to the team, I look forward to seeing what they do next.

Ya, that's definitely something I was worrying about too.
I think you're probably right even if I wish people would remember that more often. :)

I have so many things I want to write about but not enough time and energy to do any of it.
I'm always in awe of people who write all the time. For me, it's something I have to work really hard at to have it make sense, so it's not something I can do in short spurts.

I wonder how it would feel to define "you" up front, ie: "A player familiar with who enjoys the <enter genre genre here> and is motivated by x, y, or z.
Then you can use "you" which feels better but also puts specific types of players in mind in the beginning.

That site looks really great and explains who you are and what you do really well.
Also, fuck ya on both of these - "I'm an em dash enthusiast, a passionate defender of the Oxford comma"

I got two pieces of very good news today about things that I've been dealing with for the past couple of months and I'm very, very happy about that.
Today has been a good day.

I've never heard that one before, but I think there's a lot of truth to it.
The industry as a whole gets stuck in ruts and having people outside it say "Why don't we try this thing?" that's out of left field helps SO MUCH.
Also it's just fucking cool to work with different people from all over.

I feel the same way about people who make games.
If someone's entire identity is playing games, they're not usually bringing that much new to the team.

Being mad at people I don't know for things I didn't know they did does not seem like a good use of my time.

Occam's Razor is used to cut up mushrooms to snort so that you can have visions that will give you the scent of what you need to smell so that when you smell it in waking life you'll get the answer to your question, right?

What music/podcast service do you use these days?
I've been using Spotify for years but have been increasingly unhappy with them as they up the prices while the service feels worse and worse.

It's a little different, but Mission Impossible seems like it should probably be in the list as well.
