If we had a democracy, we could try to make it work. Adam Smith had a short essay on this and an evolutionary chart of a democracy. It always starts with a revolution and ends with oligarchy. Which, clearly, we're in a corporate oligarchy now.

The episode with the immigration vote where Homer comes to the same conclusion. The result at the end should be some sort of lesson how the internet is not real life.

And it remains the best system of government humans have invented. What does it say about governments that no country has created one that works better than the one that doesn't work?

It'd work better if you weren't publishing "Biden has dementia hurr durr" MAGA talking points. I expect that kind of bullshit from the New York Times, but the Onion used to have standards, dammit.

And to add fuel. Role reversal. The days of dem leaders threatening us to vote for my guy (Biden) or the Red Hat nut job will win is over. I donβt care anymore. Make a switch, I (many voters like me now hold the power). Donβt do it, dems lose. Do it and Iβm back voting anyone but Trump

how can we know for whom to vote if we're ignorant of the past, present, and ultimately future of the candidate, especially when corporate media refuses to do the job of journalism?

It does work quite well. The USA just doesn't have a proper democracy, and I have a feeling there is no will to create one.

Is that the authoritarian version or the democratic version? b/c in the democratic version unless there's a second and a vote, it can't happen. In the authoritarian version, I have no opinion.

*sigh* The Greeks learned this the hard way 1000s of years ago. This is why the US is a Federal Republic.
