That conversation Anakin has with Padme about how everyone should just “decide what to do and then do it” and if they don’t agree, a strong leader should *make* them agree is the smartest thing Lucas ever wrote, and I’m not sure he or anyone involved ever understood that.

Yes - that he then has Anakin turn evil not in a way that harks back to that but in a very silly way in Revenge suggests yeah, he didn’t quite get what he had with that speech.

That’s the God’s honest truth. There are passages of tens of seconds in the prequels that are as consequential as anything Disney have done in the decades after the purchase. The acolyte staggering around for episode after episode covered in Disney glue speaks to the truth of that.
