As I point out, in both the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections, Democrats won voters with an income less than $50,000. Trump doesn't appeal to the working class, just the minority of it that are white males.

I went to Paris in 2003, at the height of the Freedom Fries era, and people were fine. Being polite and trying to speak French went a long way.

I suspect post-war West specifically downplayed the role of the French Resistance since many of the high-profile members were communists.

I saw someone make the argument that Star Wars wasn't an immediate hit, and I thought, Well, it didn't have the big opening weekend like modern movies because it was rolled out to theaters, like many movies at the time. But as soon as it hit, it rolled out quickly.

There was a stretch of about a hundred years in the 15th and 16th centuries where no Scottish king died of natural causes. Killed in battle, assassinated... One was next to a newly developed cannon when it exploded.

There's a lot of problems there, the Soros-branded antisemitism (or "cultural Marxism" or whatever you call a supposed secret minority controlling everything which by a staggering coincidence always seems to be heavily Jewish) being another issue but one that's sadly widespread.

I like how the assumption is that left-leaning art is more popular *despite* it being leftist. Rather than realize the majority means that way, he decides it's because they've tapped into some cheat code of aesthetics. I'd like to learn more about Shandra at Bowdoin. Seems like my kind of people.

They dropped all of Star Trek Prodigy S2 on Netflix the other day. 20 new episodes of Star Trek. Yes, it's a kids' cartoon. If you can get past the first 5 episodes of the 1st season it's also good Star Trek. Some Star Trek series took a lot longer than 5 episodes to find their footing.

From what I've seen, even the non-indigenous parts felt an awful lot like someone who has a shallow stereotype of American culture and has not cared to develop their understanding or story with greater depth.

Even if inspired by that, if they didn't spell it out, it's probably for a reason: from a child's standpoint, the fright of a mother in trouble is the important thing, regardless of why.

I started noticing abuser tactics in politics a while ago. When someone uses a version of "Look what you made me do," that is a huge red flag. In any situation.

Luckily the specification for IP over Avian Carriers can be scaled for various species, although the QoS version notes that "Ostriches have much greater bulk transfer capability but provide slower delivery, and require the use of bridges between domains." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_over...

The knock on LDV is that it's episodic instead of having a through story, but the one where Marcello ends up wandering through nighttime Rome with Anita, who insists on finding milk for a kitten and then they end up wading in the fountain... That resonated.

I went to college due south from Rochester and we considered it western New York. "Upstate" is much more nebulous and depends on who's saying it and who they're saying it to. Syracuse is central New York, not western. Albany is the Capital Area North of Albany is the North Country.
