I used to think that people would eventually emerge from this sort of ignorance collectively but I was very young then.

This was a while back but when my Jewish dad was in the air force in the 1960s a bunch of the other airmen were checking him out in the shower one day. When he asked these gentlemen how he could help them, they asked him, with complete sincerity, where his horns and tail were.

My favorite thing about this website is that I come on here and I see lots of drama, much of it coded and subtweeted, and I have no idea what any of it means and I have no desire to find out. It is glorious

Another way of thinking about this: in the last 50 years, Democrats have held the Presidency for 24 years; Republicans for 26 years. During that time, Republicans have appointed 11 Supreme Court Justices. Democrats have appointed 5.

The thing I can't stop thinking about is this: I'm 48, and in my adult lifetime there has been one Republican who won the popular vote. But I will probably spend the rest of my life under the authority of a Supreme Court dominated by hard right conservatives. How is that democracy?

If you murder a string of Supreme Court justices and then appeal your conviction back up to the Supreme Court, all the remaining judges must recuse themselves with conflicts of interest. You are automatically freed; the perfect crime. No law school is brave enough to admit this.

If the Supreme Court decides in favor of Trump’s claim that a sitting president has immunity from prosecution, the logical and legal thing for Biden to do would be to simply assassinate him before the election

Yeah, we can pass laws to make it legal to hunt rich people in this imaginary exercise but there could be nothing done about non-profit corruption. Oh well.

TCM is showing Enemy Mine at ~10:15 after An Officer and a Gentleman ends. They're on a Lou Gossett Jr. trip. I hope @jonrosenberg.bsky.social will be joining them.

When I run for president my platform will be simple: hunting any rich person with a net worth of over $100 million is completely legal and if you bag one you get to give all their money to the charity of your choice
