Classic Explorer is the basis I used for Valiant Horizon and it looks *fantastic* for it. Give it a look, even if you have a firm grasp on layout you will almost certainly learn something about the art of setting up layout software that you didn't know before and pick up some ideas.

The Classic Explorer Template is officially on DrivethruRPG! It took a year form me to discover I could sell non-PDFs on the platform.
Check it out if you've been holding off. A lot of great designers have used this chassis to jumpstart their projects.

As the game goes forward I'll inevitably raise the base price to reflect it, so rn the game is basically the cheapest it'll ever get (which to be clear is a steal at $10 for 84 pages of gas tbh, but also I always have community copies available so I'm not worried about pricing out haha)

Incredible, yet more heavy hitters on #PaidRPGDay! I can personally vouch for Letters to Sandra as a pretty devastating (and handcrafty) solo game, and 9 Lives to Valhalla in case your group was in need of a Viking death metal cats thing with rotating GM as the personification of Death.
