As a NC resident this guy is terrifying - when a friend plugged into NC politics mentioned Robinson was going to be the state GOP choice for governor, I could not believe it. He's always been up front and loud about his views.

I think a lot of it was after many years of one or two alternatives in D primaries there was a huge field with an option for every type of D-leaning politics nerd, and she was kind of sharing the pragmatic-coalition-builder lane with Biden with a far greener campaign team

There's no technical reason it couldn't work like the old versions (radar gun pops off a polaroid) where it only records detected speeders. Of course it won't without legislation to that effect and those ALPR's are already out there, NOT improving road safety 🤷

whatever labelers end up doing turning up in the future, this is the most important thing to be mindful of imo. the entire idea of composable moderation is that you get to mix and match specialized labelers, not that labelers need to be a community-led amateur T&S team. that is bluesky's job.

yeah - being uncomfortable while you realize "oh shit really?" is the price of admission. You don't need hate in your heart to sustain a biased/racist system or views, just the unwillingness to move beyond "I didn't mean it that way"

I mean, LBJ (and by extension getting the civil rights acts passed) was funded by old-timey racist TX oilmen and construction interests. It shouldn’t need to be that way but especially post-Citizens United it probably is (sadly most of the big money on the left has milquetoast centrism as their ask)
