whenever someone asks how i ended up here from Texas i have the exact same conversation- i say my husband and they say "oh is he from here?" and i say yes he's from Revere and they say "oh he's... FROM here". it's funny every time

I moved up from Florida and people will often go "why would you do a thing like that? The weather is so nice there" and I reply with "yeah but have you seen florida lately?" and they then go "yeah, you're right"

I hate those conversations. Sure, I spent the first 18 years of my live in the Rio Grande Valley. I've spent the last 35 in MA, and the last 20 of those in the same crappy apartment in Somerville. What does it even mean to be "from" a place?

My wife gets the same line of questioning all the time. She's from Southern CA, and every time she tells them she moved to Chicago for me they ask if she hates me every winter. She does.
