Something big we haven’t fully processed or reflected on is the massive amount of time and effort people around NZ have contributed towards long term curriculum changes, science system changes and local govt reforms, amongst others.
All rejected by current govt. The deep engagement meant nothing.

So true. Have also witnessed this with consultations on climate adaptation and retreat (notably the considerable time and effort put in by Māori researchers, planners and kaitiaki).

This is a very good primer from the brilliant thinker, licensed translator and Te Tiriti educator Melanie Nelson, who has been working on this for months e-tangata.co.nz/comment-and-...

...Jenny May went hard on him, and his intentions are becoming clear - this is about recasting Te Tiriti to mean something entirely different, and enshrining ACT / libertarian values of self-determination for everyone, and the protection of private property rights. Deeply fucked.

I urge folks to find the clip of Seymour on Breakfast this morning (at 44.10 in), responding to the letter from licensed Māori translators about the deeply flawed, cherry-picked language used in ACT's version of the 'Treaty Principles' that will be the basis of the Treaty Principles Bill (cont...)

Feeling very bitter about many things in the Budget but the additional cuts to an already underfunded science sector is a real kicker. Worse than we imagined.

My teen, who has a suppressed appetite cos medication, won't eat sandwiches and fruit. What motivates her to eat lunch are the yummy curries, pastas and nachos her high school whips up in their kitchen. I reckon there will be a lot more food wastage with Seymour's basic AF lunches.

Just catching up with all this after a day of meetings. Rage. So many improvements needed to our local network to make it safer for kids to walk, bike & scoot to school. Our council is slowly making progress. But that progress comes to a halt if this comes into effect. Furious submission incoming...

And there you have it: this government's wild swerve on transport policy – locking Aotearoa and her people into cars for the foreseeable future, at immense cost to us all. Go ahead and judge this one by its cover.
