For those replies missing the point: That now rich actress is *still* at the bottom of this pic. She just got more water than you, and you're angry that she did. We should be directing our anger at the people controlling the water flow instead.

Pure grievance, no solutions - except the trite: tax the rich. Self-made woman, fabuously rich, engages in whataboutism instead of enjoying her success and fabulous future opportunities. Solutions abound - the best ones involve workers getting equity comp - sharing the pie - not taking it. Unions.

One thing it omits (which further supports its main points), is that poor people who come into wealth in a stable way will often devote a large percentage of their income to supporting the extended family, a drain on their resources that the nepo person does not have (or even the middle-class one).

Eat the rich. Seriously, so sick of them and their legacy wealth.

What I was surprised to learn in this vein a while back was that modern white female pop singers are almost all born 1 percenters. Record companies don't want to pay promotional costs, so they sign girls whose families can pay. Taylor Swift's dad invested in the record company. Also see Miley Cyrus.

One snapshot of the crisis is the way LinkedIn freelance influencers turn to a sort of grift of other freelancers, building networks to get them to pay for “coaching” and such.

The anxiety and resentment are rooted in wealth inequality. And it is growing. First it affected the blue collar factory worker. Then it has progressed to creatives. Now it is threatening tech workers who are being displaced by AI. Where does it stop? P. S. Look for the union label.

Fair enough to say all workers need more pay, especially in an environment where the very richest ppl & companies are taking larger shares of profits. However some are in an easier position to work a little more or make lifestyle choices to help save up, whereas the vast majority of workers are not.

Freelancing can absolutely suck at times. You’re a small business, yet don’t qualify for a lot of the “normal” business incentives, zero wage and worker protections, rarely can claim unemployment. Just think of all the crew and behind the scenes people that deal with this daily.

Not as fantastic as you think. "I don't want to exist in a place where the people who make the most money off art don't make it at all; " What she forgets is that programmers, insurance salesmen, truck drivers, sales clerks, are all in the same situation, and none of them are 'creatives.'

Wow. It’s also why these execs are in love with AI..if they could get rid of the talent they could keep even more money.
