One funny thing about all this reporting: we now know of at least 3 instances (twice at WaPo, once with NPR) where Lewis tried and failed to kill stories about himself. He's not just unethical, he's also bad at it.
Well, being bad at his job (seems that killing stories which afflict the powerful is an important part of journalism) is the one thing that speaks in his favor for being retained at the Post.
We can't be sure about that until we know what the denominator is. His failure rate might be, say, 3%. There really could be that many bad stories about him.
