Hello #calligram print of the 1620s, what a nice deer made out of printed words it is, isn't it?
This shape poem, in German Figurengedicht, was printed in #Augsburg and was dealing with the contested hunting rights of the aristocracy. #earlymodern #bookhistory #skystorians

My opinion: Looking at the amount of money that is burnt in election campaigns (and which could be used so much better) I have the strong impression this is all showbiz for the benefit of the media only. Also, ask yourself: Would you lent your car with you kids inside to any of the candidates?

Just attending a 3-day workshop on the danger of abrupt ocean circulation changes. Discussions are quite worrying. E.g. in 35 to 45 % of high quality models, convection in the open North Atlantic collapses in the 2030s due to #globalheating. -> Major climate disruption. Not good.

Never trust historical astronomy records w/o checking. Latest case for me was that a ☄️ was placed near the 5th star of the Chinese lunar mansion of Shen. Well, for the date given, the star would never have been visible at all at night. Best is, it helped me to support my case. 🔭 #history

Really don't need to put myself under pressure finishing a paper that predicts a Great Comet return in almost 100 years. But there's not a single day I do not think of it. But this mountain of work to go through more than 2000 years of cometary history looks so steep. ☄️🔭

Digging deep into medieval #comet reports for our next paper. Yesterday I transcribed a manuscript from the early 15th century which was suprisingly easy to decipher (a very good hand!). An interesting takeaway was that the adverse effects of ☄️ were said to be only happening to the upper class. 🔭
