International and comparative folks, does any other democracy have presidential (or toward a similar office) immunity from criminal law like SCOTUS just authorized? If so, is that based on statute, rule, or the nation's constitution?
Italy does for the top four positions while in power, introduced by Berlusconi (alongside changing other laws that related to his crimes), which was why he was always desperate to get back in power (Bunga Bunga by Wondery did a good comparison between him and Trump in 2020).
France, South Korea, Pakistan, and Thailand have all convicted and jailed former chief executives in the past few years. There's more; these are the ones I can name off the top of my head.
