If we were doomed, trump would have won 2020 or won on Jan 6 or voters could have shrugged on abortion in 2022. The GOP couldnt even shut down the government or breach the debt ceiling to sabotage Biden. Declaring the president immune to the law by fiat makes the GOP look ridiculous and extremist

Politics doesnt go at the speed of posting etc but a campaign needs to be much more nimble than this. Makes sense to wait for a Friday interview when everyone will be off work and watching tv, but their normal instincts to go quiet and let minor news cycles blow over are cutting against them now

The other path is give an interview to every NYT employee except specifically the editorial board. Don’t return Sulz’s calls but talk to the climate reporter whose work is always on page 30, talk to the backbencher who covers the NLRB etc

I don’t know what the outcome will be but i still maintain its 100x more likely that trump suffers an October surprise than biden. Hunter conviction came and went, media is shooting their shot on “Biden old” in June. Trump could still get new indictments, bankruptcy, secret audio leaks etc
