Yeah. In Colorado now, the smart move is to register unaffiliated, because then you get both primary ballots, and can choose which ballot to send. You can’t vote on both, but when the GOP field is nuts & bananas while the Dem field is Everyone’s Fine, you can get strategic. But that’s 1 state.

In Alabama, anyone can request either primary ballot. The only catch is that you can't vote R and then vote in a subsequent D runoff; you must have voted D or abstained. I'm registered independent for privacy's sake, but it isn't required here.

From what I'm seeing, there are a lot of states that allow you to do something similar. Definitely worth looking into.

That's so much better than PA's closed primaries! It's what I wish for TBH Side note, I often wish I could live in CO for a while, but the altitude was really hard for the few days I visited Boulder once
