I mean. The bit where the people that originally won the repair bid had it yanked from them and subsequently went bankrupt probably didn’t help. But it may be that the state’s possible litigiousness over the bridge is the issue

The backstory: the westbound span of the busiest bridge in Rhode Island suddenly closed in December after they discovered (tens of millions into renovation) that it was failing structurally. Last week they let a contract to demolish it. They just announced no one bid to rebuild it. 😬

Unfortunately they’re in a weird, non-obvious spot and the walkway beside them dead ends at a locked door and not the main entrance. Sure does speak to priorities. Still glad they’re there.

I’m a volunteer with one of the local Health Equity Zone working groups. Today we dedicated bike racks that we used grant money to buy; they were supposed to be placed at a library but instead due to lack of space they ended up at the nearby YMCA.

I saw *another* cybertruck just north of our neighborhood today; it had a paper temporary plate so I am pretty sure that makes it at least the 3rd one locally. I thought my neighbors had better taste. Guess not.
