I got into an argument with one of those over welding once. I am quite bad at welding. I’ve got an engineering degree and done enough welding to be dangerous and know my hard limitations. He seemed to believe that whacking 2 bits of steel together was ‘welding’. It’s a competent man problem.

I have quite categorically got more and more left wing as I’ve got older and angrier. I’m still to the right of most of my friends but that is because most of my remaining friends are more left wing than me. A lot of that is a drift away from the politics of my parents.

I have been told for years to watch it. The first season is crap. The first half of the second one is crap and then it just clicks. There’s a whole arc where Ron meets his match in Lucy Lawless. His satire or libertarians is on point very on point.

It wasn’t. Farage doesn’t have that. Farage is a polarizing figure who appeals To a narrow band of people who like his schtick. Even for the leave vote he wasn’t the main front man. That was Johnson being cynical with others. It’s somebody like BJ with Farages views I worry about.

Another thought. Johnson had something of a mass appeal, even if we didn’t get it. A lot of people did. He ran for mayor of London and won a deeply cynical electorate. People improbably thought he was clever and the buffoonery was an act.

Had Johnson. Had. Past tense. And as I recall you were 100% convinced Johnson was coming back to lead the Conservatives to a glorious victory. I think this is a similar thing. Farage isn’t going to be the PM Trump *might* get reelected but Farage isn’t going to be PM.

Worth watching Pyramids of Mars, it is one of the best, and yes, definitely meant to be Set. Also worth catching the moment in E4 where Sutekh rises from his prison of millennia and the stage hand of Sutekh can be seen pulling the cushion off his bum where it got stuck to the costume.
