One of Leonard Leo's underappreciated insights is that you don't need great minds to advance his reactionary vision of American law. B students are fine, and often preferable.

This was the theory underlying every urban (or state) political machine, so I don’t think Leo is particularly insightful. The big mistake of liberals was thinking you needed to be a genius (practically speaking, an “A” student graduated from a prestigious law school) to render a moral legal judgment

We can thank the Roberts Court’s 2010 “Citizens United” decision for a corrupt little loser like Leo to become one of the most powerful “behind the scenes string pullers” that the court has ever scene.

I'm a college dropout and would make a better Supreme Court justice than anyone on the bench except maybe KBJ.

one of the big questions during the kavanaugh hearings was “why him? surely there’s another federalist society guy grown in a vat who isn’t a rapist and doesn’t have mysterious vanishing debts” but low character is the point! that IS the qualification conservatives are looking for!

All it takes is the belief that the ends justify the means, which happens to be the exact opposite of the rule of law.

As a B student I object to this characterization. I’d do a much better job than Cannon at leaving myself some plausible deniability regarding my intentions.
