There was a minute there when Nick Stahl seemed like he'd be huge. He was really good in this and outstanding in the HBO series Carnivalé at the same time. A shame he was so troubled.

I hadn't thought that far ahead, lol. I guess it depends on what you want. Roy Cooper will be finishing his term here in NC. Southern, white guy. "Safe" pick. Stacey Abrams would make heads explode. Gretchen Whitmer? I'm at a loss, which is a problem. Dems haven't developed much of a bench.

No. I've had to make the call for two dogs and as I send this, I'm looking at three more that I'll probably have to make (though hopefully I have 8 or 9 years before the next). All I can say is it will hurt less. That's the deal we make with them. The price is steep but still a bargain.

I've come to see their actions as originalism in the sense that the Framers never envisioned a democracy where women and Black people could vote. Their democracy was, by and large, for privileged white men. Read this way, SCOTUS decisions seem intelligible as an originalist project.

Have you considered that yesterday's SCOTUS decision was a feature, not a bug? The framers never envisioned a multiracial democracy, but one where white men, especially PROPERTIED white men, could vote. Their goal was the protection of capital and property. Their liberty, the freedom to exploit it.

When I was a libertarian (I know...embarrassing) we DIDN'T believe in borders. There were some true believers in that group, not just Republicans who wanted to smoke pot. Completely batshit crazy, but true believers.
