VanCAF needs to address comicdom. The original statement announcing the "permanent ban" has been deleted. How about an update? And not on fucking Twitter, because the only comics folk that are left there are Gaters.

Nate Powell, who is a friend of Miriam and whose opinions & acumen I trust, has an Instagram post that details what went down at VanCAF. Recommended read. FYI Miriam served as an office worker in the Israeli Army 20 years ago. Military service of some kind is required for all young Israelis.

I got zero love for the Israeli government, but this seems fishy AF. Aren’t ALL Israelis citizens required to do some public service time in the IDF? Usi g that as a reason just seems like a really convenient excuse for doing some antisemitism to me.

I'm not sure of the laws in Canada...but since all Jewish people in Israel must serve in the IDF, would banning all former IDF members potentially run afoul of national origin/religious discrimination laws?
