Also I don't bother opting out of Lexis Nexus as it makes it impossible for any automatic background checks to work and is kind of overkill unless you're wanting to also just increase privacy in general

I don't do everything in the post, it's probably overkill unless you're actively being targeted. But I do everything that doesn't require me to mail stuff in and that can be easily disabled or worked around (like using the IRS pin code when filing taxes).

This is also a good opportunity to mention that at this point I think it makes sense to do ID theft prevention as a default. Between more involved scams going on and never ending data breaches it feels more like a "when" then "if". Best resource I found:

Scammers are giving up on boomers and getting a lot more sophisticated with how they can trick a more savvy generation. We're not as immune to this anymore as we assume. Had a scammer get me to the point where I was actually talking w/ someone a month ago. Never got that far before. Stay vigilant!

Got super into this for a month, surprisingly addictive with good depth once you really figure out its mechanics. Only issue was after a while you run into the same vouchers+jokers over and over so it doesn't go as deep as it could. Lots of jokers are "never pick" bad too, limiting the pool further.

Yes, which is why I never use group chats except when it is a group only about planning/coordinating something. Trying to be social in such a broad environment is never going to bear fruit outside of frivolous interactions.

Same lol... I'd have been fine if it was an optional feature since I know some people didn't like their likes being visible. But I didn't care and it was super helpful for discovery! I rarely like RT bc I hate timeline spam so used likes as a more "soft RT".

Of course now I can afford (and desire) flights, no roommates, longer stays, eating out and even buying things at DD... cons can be a lot more expensive. Even doing it cheaply I want more creature comforts than I did in my early years.

The nice thing about a con that makes it "cheap" as a vacation outlet is the floor is very financially low for the big reason you're there. Hang with furries, party, see friends, see art. None of which costs money to do, whereas something like visiting a city req spending $$ to get much out of it.

Cons can be deceptively cheap, it's just generally not appealing to do cheaply if you're not young 20s. Most vacationing in my early 20s was cons and total cost usually ran $5-700 for the weekend. That's a very approachable vacation. Splitting room x4+shorter stay+little eating out+drive=lots saved

So it appears to be a UI bug because I was in fact on a feed, but the tab at the top said I was on my following timeline. Just tried swiping right and sure enough it worked, putting put me on my actual timeline with the feed tabs refreshing to be correct. Odd.

I thought everyone just gave up on @bsky.app as my timeline has been super dead the past couple of days but it turns out it's just not fetching that many posts for me? Looked up some people I follow and they've posted but none of their posts are showing up on my timeline. Anyone else getting this?
