We were pleasantly shocked that there was only One Big Night, on the 4th itself, with modest pings on the 5th and literally nothing on the 6th. And no preambles on the 3rd. The most acceptable swath of days in about five years!

The backyard chore is called "Poop Walk," and in part it is picking up after the dogs; but the name elides that it is also some light weeding, rock relocation, and some gravel raking. Today, I also threw out the spent ordinance from Independence Day that had flown in.

Very hard to photograph this finished product, but: I used a retired pair of 80+ y.o. overalls to assemble a lining and cross body strap for a tote bag! Especially nice: chest and one rear pocket repurposed as interior pockets and original hardware retained as strap hardware.

This is just what I know from like, 20 years of casual study of this + like 35 years of western musicianship, so I might be talking only for gamelan. But like, there's also pelog and its (1 or 7)-2-3-4-5-6-(1 or 7) scale! Only one pelog note is tuned the same as its slendro bro!

...2 and 3 (or 3 and 5, or 5 and 6) are not "one step" apart. They're not even two half-"steps" apart. If you mapped the hz to western music, the distance from 1 to 2 will not be the same as the distance from 2 to 3. Octaves DO exist, so high 1 = 2x the hz of low 1. I'm not an expert, just a player.

Short answer: no. Long answer, Indonesian gamelan ref: Ensembles are tuned to themselves, only in the neighborhood of other ensembles. The note called slendro 2 is only dependably an s2 in its ensemble's 1-2-3-5-6 frame. Physics still applies, so its hz might be a "western" note. But like...
