🧵 Here's an article in Vice News about the technique of deep canvassing used by VetsForward. Eighty million of us voted for Joe Biden in 2020. Imagine what would happen if that eighty million learned how to do this.

🧵 There's an Atlantic article about effectively reaching out to Trump supporters, but I'm not a subscriber. I suspect it's something like deep canvassing though.

🧵Am I reaching anyone outside of my resister friends? I hope so, but I really don't know. It's very difficult to change minds on social media because of algorithms and silos. Asha Rangappa wrote an article or two a couple of months ago on bridging vs. bonding. There's a tendency to bond, not bridge.

🧵I don't know if it will work for anyone else but my personal model is to write a weekly newsletter on Substack with sources to back up my opinion. I post links to three different social media sites. I also link to my favorite Substack articles, Texas Tribune, Tennessee Holler, and others.

On this 4th of July I say we all vote for Biden and Democrats in the upcoming election to make sure we are independent from Trump forever!

I may read up on this and write my Substack about it next Tuesday. Sadly I don't think there is a technique for doing something that will change hearts and minds on a broad scale. It will take an oblique approach, one on one, talking about Project 2025, loss of rights and the Supreme Court capture.

One person at a time. It's more about relating to people than getting information to them. We should try to change hearts instead of minds. A non-confrontational approach helps. Google People's Action and also Deep Canvass. Here's a clip with a few pointers.

Trump wins. Project 2025 goes into full swing. Americans are rolled up with illegals immigrants and deported. Birth control is banned. Protestors are hit with sedition charges.
Now what’s the plan? Vote? They’re going to shoot us.
What’s the plan?

To everyone appalled by NYT's July 4 op-ed "Why I don't vote. And maybe you shouldn't either", note that 1) author Matthew Walther DID vote in both 2020 and 2022, and 2) he's an extremist Catholic graduate of Hillsdale College, part of the religious-right faction behind Jan 6.

Seth Abramson in a Twitter thread emphasized that this was not a current suggestion. It's an idea to consider if the media is successful in their destructive attempts.

The Supremes have set it up to be even closer than we imagined and are ready, willing and able to choose Trump because they do have precedent for that move.

Very true. My only regret is that I'm not in her district. My "representative" is one of those who voted against certifying President Biden's win.

I agree that the media is absurd. Since most outlets are owned by big corporations that is understandable. It's not right but it's understandable. They're not both sidesing because they are part of the corporate web. If you haven't read Seth Abramson's Substack I would recommend it. It's a gem.

The news media has been having a field day. They're trying to force Joe Biden to step aside. Personally I'm voting for him. No questions. There is a Camelot scenario, a what if, that is a remote possibility. This latest from Seth Abramson explains it.
