Oh man, I am so sorry to hear that. I thought years in separate countries would smooth things over between us, but it’s only gotten worse.

Thank you so much. Really needed to hear this 😞 I hate how comments from family, even if you know they’re coming from an insane place, still sting.

When you older brother has nothing better to do than stalk your stories and then send mean messages about them 🥰 I finally understand why people get a pen name.

My favorite will always be Chihayafuru, about competitive karuta (it just finished in mid-2022 after a 15-year run!). Extremely well-developed characters, genuinely moving battles, gorgeous artwork, and just the right amount of romance/heartache :) kodansha.us/series/chiha...

This is one of those stories that stays with you long after you've read it, evoking Ishiguro and Amy Tan at their most somber and tender.

The Locus Award for Best Editor has been around since 1989. Prior to last night, only three people have ever won: Gardner Dozois (17), Ellen Datlow (17), and David G. Hartwell (1). Honored to be among them and still very stunned.

It’s a goddamn shame that short speculative fiction is at its creative peak now, when its markets are in economic shambles.
I wish 1920s-80s levels of SFF money were available now to finance beautiful and gay and provocative genre fic, instead of during the libertarian-punches-his-way-to-Mars era.
