No worries! I thought that something with CSS was where we'd end up too, and because of that this story was kept in inventory for far longer than I'd have liked—as I tried to figure out how the heck we'd publish it. In the end, the website and ebook versions ended up quite similar formatting-wise.

I don't recall all of the technical reasons, but after spending a LOT of time struggling to make the format of the story work (in this and ebook format), this way was what our webmaster advised would be best. As for screen readers—there is alt. text for all of the text-images, so I hope that helps.

I have a new story out today and I am so excited to share it with you!!!!

I wrote this story with the deliberate goal of making your brain do a thing that human brains really do not do. Give it a try and let me teach you a whole new way to read?

Forgot to tag @carolinemyoachim.bsky.social, the author of this incredible story. If you write a story next called "We Will Teach You How to Skeet | We Will Teach You How to Skeet," perhaps that will help.

Editor's Note: This story, "We Will Teach You How to Read | We Will Teach You How to Read" is one of the most amazing stories I've ever read. I urge everyone to read it, & I'm so excited to finally share it with you all. —John Joseph Adams lightspeedmagazine.com/HowToRead

For those who don't click thru: The original image was by Shutterstock user Ardea-studio, and we've now replaced the April 2024 issue's cover with an image from Tithi Luadthong (Grandfailure).

It's come to our attention that the cover we used in our April 2024 issue is AI-generated. We deeply apologize for this error, and we remain committed to not using AI-generated content. We have corrected the issue and posted an explanation on our website. www.lightspeedmagazine.com/nonfiction/p...

😭😭😭
This flash is so packed with emotion. A metaphor for what we judge as worthy of saving and what we think should be let go. But every small thing counts and everything adds up. In the end we might end up much lonelier than we thought.
