I don’t understand how anyone can ignore what the Russians have done to Ukraine. I don’t remember seeing people march in support, but maybe they did. How do you look the other way when tens of thousands of children have been stolen? When women have been raped? When so many have been killed?

Ukraine seems to fall within their category of “countries that should be wiped off the face of the Earth.” I haven’t seen much concern about dead and kidnapped Ukrainian children lately. Is it because Ukrainians are mostly “white?” Or is it because Russia isn’t a Jewish country?

I seldom see the Russo-Ukrainian war mentioned anymore. Where’s the outrage? Tens of thousands of Ukrainian children have been kidnapped by Russia. At least 10,000 civilians have been killed, and 30,000 men and women have died defending their once-beautiful country against Russian invaders.

If you’re going to make generalizations, then you have it backwards. The Ashkenazi tend to be more liberal, less religious, and more concerned about improving relations with Arab peoples. Some vote Labor, some vote Likud-Beytenu, and a relatively small number vote UTJ. The Sephardi/Mizrahi 1/

I’d like them to have more. I’d like to have universal healthcare and a universal basic income. I think that the distribution of wealth in the U.S. is shameful. Biden can’t change much on his own, but what we have now is far better than what we’ll have if Trump is re-elected.

It’s not like they’ll get anything they want if Trump is elected. I worked 70 hours a week when I was an undergrad and it still took me years to pay off my student debt. I would like to see student loans forgiven, but Biden has done everything he can legally do.

I’m so sorry to hear that, Simon. I got Covid for the first time in September and I’m still feeling its effects. I’m fortunate in that I don’t have any reaction to the vaccines, but I got it right before the latest booster was available. I hope you feel better. I know it’s miserable.

Hmmm. Have you seen the rising antisemitism among progressives? You’d think that the left would be the first to expand ranks. Many country clubs in the US still don’t admit Jews. There has never been a Jewish president or vice president. Jews, especially Israeli Jews, have never been fully accepted.

For the most part, I agree with you. If Israel weren’t the most despised country in the world and the “dirty Jews” hadn’t been reviled and persecuted for centuries, then I’d be more inclined to see a racial element here. Most media outlets, including CNN, have been sympathetic to the Palestinians.

Maybe. I might buy it if Israelis and Jews in general weren’t as much “the other” as Palestinians. Jews, whatever their actual skin tone, aren’t included in the white man’s club. I suspect that if the situation were reversed, Jewish teenagers would also have been referred to as “young men.”

Are you under the mistaken impression that Israelis are “whiter” than Palestinians? That’s not the case for the majority of the population. You’d have a better argument for Islamophobia, but there’s every bit as much antisemitism involved in this conflict.
