(all but 1 are) The Sacred Band of Thebes on a dangerous mission to rescue/abduct a sorcerer from Sparta. Gods, wrestling, gay romance in the classical style. I really love this for centering the trust of lovers in an action plot.

4: "The Dying Lover of Nogorod" in @bcsmagazine.bsky.social I re-read A Wizard of Earthsea and thought, what if the wizards kissed? Then, what if they kissed the dragons? It's an homage to Le Guin, and a queer, poetic, mystical doomed love.

_Both_ kinds of feedback are worth heeding, because I would like eventually to get something published in Beneath Ceaseless Skies. But I'd also like to get things published regardless of whether it's in BCS, so I do different things with the two types of feedback.

This is why, when I get a personal rejection from, for example, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, the first question I ask myself is: have they found a general writing flaw in this piece that I should fix (true for the most recent rejection) or are they letting me know about the type of thing they accept?
