At nearby homegrown museum, there's a framed local newspaper story about how one of Harry R. Truman's cats stowed away in a friend's truck a few days before the eruption. They planned to hand the cat back to the guards at the road closure. I kind of hope it escaped, though!

This year I discovered I can use the IRS system to pull federal estimated payments from my account on dates of my choice up to a year ahead. The remaining three quarters of 2024 have just been scheduled and I am so happy.

Absolutely agree. It's exhausting to beg. Also a cost to editorial diversity: lack of support for zines results in more editors of financial privilege (and other privileges that correlate w it) b/c zines pay writers first and can't pay editors too w/o dropping half the fiction or begging more etc.
