In Iceland we have a word for feeling really guilty for staying inside on a sunny day, because they are so rare and precious. We call it "sólviskubit" and it sounds a lot like "samviskubit" which means having a guilty conscious.

“Uncanny valley”:
Unease from viewing a computer-generated figure that is almost but not quite realistic.
“Trash crevasse”: Disgust from viewing generative AI artwork that looks sloppy, plagiarizes from artists, and sucks back more water and power than a small country.

It’s been a long standing and MAJOR criticism of Impact Factors that people could NOT reproduce the results.
Even motivated editors with full knowledge of everything they published in their journal couldn’t duplicate the calculated Impact Factor.

New Impact Factors out today with this change:
“Full transparency into data underlying the citation statistics for each journal enables you to see each and every article and citation that has contributed to a journal’s scholarly impact.”
This seems important. 🧵
