So last night's boss confrontation in my D&D game happened. Two evil factions and the players all fighting over an ancient artifact in the ruin of a flying city. Particularly enjoyed running the Knight of Tiamat who stalked around the battlefield like some sort of fiery Darth Vader.

I've been doing this. Mashed up the starter campaigns of Lost Mines/Icespire peak with material from Rime of the Frostmaiden so the white dragon Cryovain is linked to a conflict between the followers of Talos and Auril, and the Red Wizard Hamun Kost is digging up a lost Netherese city.

Next game is going to be one hell of a boss fight between my players, Red Wizards of Thay and two Cult of the Dragon villains all fighting over an ancient Netheril artifact in a crashed flying city. Left the game on a cliffhanger with the battle map set up.

Andor draws on a lot of the old Imperial Sourcebook (ISB, COMPNOR, etc) and Andor and Co are straight out of Crackens Rebel Operatives and the various covert ops sourcebooks. In some of the other shows they lifted the inquisitors wholesale from the Fragments From The Rim book.

A lot of the source material used in Andor actually was originally conceived in the old West End Games RPG. The whole series is like watching someone's campaign being portrayed on screen. Dave Filoni and Co have been mining those old books pretty heavily along with the Timothy Zahn novels.

Always nice when your props, descriptions and story come together for an incredibly over the top combat with an undead dragon. My players were terrified for their lives, I got to growl out lots of villainous dialogue and the end of the battle was suitably apocalyptic with the lair collapsing.
