Like yeah this is partly a self-serving thing for me to say (as someone surviving on unlicensed merch sales), but maybe fan art and fiction represent the best future for Star Trek. Our forebearers made it through the 70s that way.

There are some fantastic fan works happening across all eras of Star Trek. The 1970s fen were my first penfriends and fandom buddies. I'm a Trekkie because of those kind people. Do what you have to! πŸ––

My mom had Spirk zines from the '60s and '70s I got to look through when I was a teen. She & my dad also wrote in to keep it on the air. Fan-culture & fanworks keep series like Star Trek alive! Hopefully, SOMEONE at Paramount will realize this and stop coming for (esp the queer-coded) fan-merch. 🀬
