I added a ton of new features to the SciComm Coworking Discord server, so this is a great time to join! There are still weekly coworking sessions, but also some new text channels for sharing useful and fun information. If you're in any way involved in #scicomm, this is for you! discord.gg/EeMFVufW2k

I manage the #SciComm Coworking Discord server, where science communicators and science writers can get some work done. We have weekly coworking video calls and some forum threads. I'm doing a bit of maintenance on the server this week, but that shouldn't affect new joiners. discord.gg/cfWJ6gyhUQ

Eeee! It's launch day! If you pre-ordered a copy of "Hey, There's Science In This" it should arrive soon. If you haven't got a copy yet, you can take a look inside the ebook on sites that sell it, such as the UK Kindle store here: amzn.to/4a6Py1w

Today at 7PM UK time (3PM ET) I'm doing a YouTube Livestream for the launch of "Hey, there's science in this". Featuring short readings, some book/card signing, a tiny bit of violin (like 10 notes) to explain something from the book, awkwardness and more. #scicomm www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJ37...

Just a few days left to order either a signed copy of HTSIT (UK only) or a signed postcard (global). This little shop will be closed after the livestream on Wednesday (but of course unsigned books will still be available after that). www.buymeacoffee.com/mixture/extras

Ten days until “Hey, There’s Science In This” is out! Over on Instagram I shared some of the locations featured in the book, so you can see where some of the chapters are set. And yes, all of them are linked to science! www.instagram.com/p/C4qF-WTo0p...

If I read only the vowel sounds of each word, the u in up, the u in truck and the first o in onion sound a little bit different than the rest of the schwas (and all similar to each other)

Less than two weeks until book launch and so far I've sold some pre-orders (but don't know exactly how many), received a bunch of books, postcards and stickers, agreed to do a book talk in June, sent out some review copies, updated the website. What am I forgetting?? evaamsen.com/HTSIT/

A reminder that people in the UK can pre-order a signed copy of "Hey, There's Science In This" before March 27. Everyone else (incl UK peeps with ebook preorders) can order a postcard. Both are at this link, and I'll sign them during the livestream. www.buymeacoffee.com/mixture/extras

To mark World Book Day I've added pre-order links for several international shops to the "Hey, There's Science In This" page.
It's out in 3 weeks as ebook and paperback, so you'll get it very soon but pre-orders really help an author (aka me) out. #scicomm evaamsen.com/HTSIT/

On March 27 I'm having an online book launch for "Hey, There's Science In This". It will be on YouTube, and I'll post it on the day as well, but this link has a description and a button to add it to your calendar so you don't miss it: calendarlink.com/event/vlQrr

I wrote a book! "Hey, There's Science In This" is a collection of science essays that started out as science blog posts over the years. It's available for pre-order now (more shops rolling out soon) and will be published March 28. Please buy my book :) #scicomm evaamsen.com/HTSIT/

Oh look, a new profile picture in which I'm holding 100% fewer birds but also not standing in the pouring rain so that's probably more professional. Also updated the banner image to plug my soon-to-be published book. (Pre-orders SOON. Don't worry, I will obviously tell you)

Of course he has a seemingly endless supply of plastic food: he's a nutritionist. I'm a scientist and I have a seemingly endless supply of science toys/gadgets/memorabilia; my dad (airplane engineer) had lots of toy airplanes. This all makes sense

In September I analysed how I felt about different social media platforms, and as part of that I wrote down what each platform reminded me of. Here’s what I wrote down back then and it’s mostly the same now.

So why can I not get Parafilm for my daily life yet, hm? 🧪

Is the event run by a committee? They might only meet once a week or so and not have had a chance to discuss amongst themselves. I'd wait a week before chasing.
