Excited to be getting further into my research on the Browns’ mission tour in 1901-1902. Today’s archive fun: photos! There’s Arthur, writing in the journals I’ve been reading. There’s Jennie (frustratingly NOT journaling). So much to work with & through as I get deeper into it. I love this part.

Worth reading; Also, fwiw Prof. Wright is the co-editor of the highest quality college-level US history textbook & primary source reader out there — the American Yawp — which I assign every year (and which he and his co-contributors have made open-access). No one better situated to comment.

I am appalled by Columbia University's treatment of its students for peaceful protest. Even NYPD says those arrested "were peaceful." And throwing the students to the streets? What profound cowardice and cruelty by leadership who won't be forgotten in the history of the university AND the city.

You don't have to be able to read cursive handwriting to contribute to the National Archive's transcription projects, but if you do, you can get into some pretty cool stuff.
