Societies at war are not places to search for compassion and sympathy. Any society, any war. This makes for interesting reads but mostly simply shows that humans, as species, aren't great. The key is to expect governments to follow laws even without sympathy and hold them accountable if they don't

I don't have any inside info about the search process beyond what is in the paper but if this position is indeed community facing, then they should have at the very least to clearly think it through before making an offer. Raz doesn't hide this views, so it is the university that screwed up

I disagree with many of Segal's arguments. I also understand that a position of a Holocaust institute director can be as community facing as it is academic. But Minnesota had to think about these issues before making an offer rather than withdrawing it later for political reasons. Stupid, shameful
