I’m yet to see a mine anywhere in the world that operates without obliterating the landscape.
The penalties for environmental crime are not a deterrent and those responsible rarely risk jail time.
We’d rather lock up environmental defenders than board directors.

One of my kids was sent home from school today with heat stress. It’s early Spring.
Yet we’re still fighting new coal, oil and gas approvals in court every day, and there’s lots more waiting in the wings.

I have mostly avoided anxiety and solastalgia through my trip to FNQ to see the Daintree and the Great Barrier Reef. I've used every cognitive dissonance trick that I have. But as I sit in the dark thinking about the stuff I've seen so far, it gets a lot harder to maintain those boundaries.

Over the past 18 months, maximum fines for certain types of peaceful protest in some states increased 10-fold and prison terms trebled.
We cannot achieve the kind of transformational change that we need to see for a safe climate, without a free and fair democracy.
