Don’t worry, contemporary dictatorships differ from those of the 20th century: many current dictators claim to be democrats and avoid mass violence. Instead, they employ more subtle repression. Trump will probably lean that way. There might still be ‘’elections’’ afterwards, like in Russia.

What if Covid did come from the lab, but wasn’t engineered ? Maybe it came from a sick specimen that was brought in and being examined for research, and protocols weren’t respected, and the animal contaminated some lab workers, and that’s how it got out ?

Obviously the administration is still tracking it though, through the wastewater testing. Which is a lot lot cheaper and doesn’t inconvenience regular people in their everyday life so much. And it helps to lower the needless panic levels.

I don’t see how this solves it. Say person 2 is intolerant to person 1. Person 3 sees that person 2 is breaching the social contract, and therefore becomes intolerant to person 2. Person 4 sees person 3 breaching the social contract, and therefore becomes intolerant to person 3., etc., etc.
