We had so many fireflies in our yard in Wisconsin when I was a child. I used to put some grass in a jar and catch a firefly to light up my room at night.

It's as if our press just can't process a threat as grave as Trump. They no longer have the skills or backing from their top editors to grapple with such a grand-scale horror as the death of our democracy. So they've shrunk the issues down to a size they feel comfortable with: Shaming an old man.

Voters in the UK are showing they are sick of austerity and cuts to the social safety net. The Conservatives have eroded the welfare state, and tragically, the NHS. Let’s hope voters in other countries stand up and do the same.

This is surprising. Dr. Dan Jones has so many cool physics demos! I always loved playing with magnets and slinky toys as a kid. I wish my high school physics teacher had harnessed that curiosity.

I am absolutely voting blue down the line even if I have to hold my nose for some of them because the only way to save the USA from totalitarianism is for the Dems to win the House and Senate and then expand SCOTUS immediately. There may not be time but short of a revolution what do we have?

March 23 1933, the Enabling Act becomes law in Germany, giving the chief executive power enforce his own laws without checks and balances. The passing of the Act marked the formal transition from democratic republic to totalitarian dictatorship. 6 months later, it was a 1 party state.

SCOTUS has ruled that presidents are essentially monarchs who can commit crimes, bribery is legal, federal regulatory agencies have no authority to keep us safe, and homeless people can be punished for being homeless. Is it any wonder why public approval of this court is so low?

Luckily I’m a dual citizen so I’ll still be Canadian if I give up my US citizenship, but I know it’s really difficult to acquire citizenship in another country.
