When I first learned how the U.S. government works, and read the Constitution, there was a lot in there about how the legislative branch and executive branch ideally have nothing to do with each other (one reason the SOTU address is so extraordinary). We can see the wisdom of that here, I think.

His campaign and party can't message against the horror show of the GOP and the looming threat of Trump's return, because they don't see them as threats TO THEM. They will be ok with the end of all progress of the last century, because they tried.

I’ve been watching/rewatching it. And I’m old enough to remember how George HW Bush was raked over the coals for the faux pas of looking at his watch during a debate or town hall. Biden’s answers were……..mostly just not enough for besting his opponent. His affect, however, was disqualifying.

Some years from now a memoir by or about Kamala Harris will reveal her to have been Edith Wilsoning for Biden for a significant chunk of his first term, won’t it?
