Poor McF jr back home tonight after two days of brilliant care & surgery at RvH after badly broken arm. Having to think of one handed dinners made a risotto with prawn, pepper & chorizo w crushed basil & lemon for us tonight. Won’t fix everything, but it was tasty & helped a little.

What a terrible day in and around Newry. We've never had floods like this. A disaster caused by unprecented rain, compounded by a lack of govt and no-one in charge to make decisions (such as opening the canal locks) and organise cross-departmental clean-up coordination.

It occurs to me people might be concerned about dog racing? If I can offer some reassurance. This is not like greyhound racing, all the dogs are pets, nothing more valuable than a rosette and pride rides on it, great care is taken not to overstress the animals, and most important, they enjoy it
