here’s a fucking marker: biden does not step down, trump loses. make your arguments against it, but that’s the baseline you would expect if you don’t read the times and the atlantic writers shitting their pants in public. show your work, and i will show mine.

why do they think normies want interesting politics? that was, you know, one of the knocks against the Trump admin: that the news was chaotic and awful every day!

I want them to weep when they lose. I want them to sit there, crying into their celebratory wines, knowing that they will never have power and that they will be a footnote in history. I want them laid low, to suffer the pains of knowing that they have lost, forever.

I've talked to a lot of old East Germans who talked about how carefree their youth was, and then they'd mention offhandedly their acquaintance who got shot trying to cross the border, or the time someone disappeared for a few weeks, or the time the Stasi asked them about an album they owned

My point, I think, is that all I'm seeing is panic and nobody actually telling me *why* I'm supposed to panic about the debate (just that I'm supposed to). Not your fault! I'm just pointing out a weird media dynamic here.

I decided to not watch the debate and it is interesting that nothing I've read really seems to indicate to me *what* actually happened except that a lot of Dems are panicking, even as I read through some of the summaries of various bits, and had no impression that Biden was performing poorly

on the other hand we could have a world where fifty homeowners, landlords, retirees, and extremely confused activists come together to look at minor positive changes in communities of tens of thousands and say "not today!"
much to consider

I think the phenomenology of many entry level/low level white collar jobs is largely that my work makes no difference societally or even organizationally, so it must be bullshit. Also, the idea that my job wouldn't exist in a better society is compelling! So they must be bullshit! tldr: all vibes

the legal mechanism she chose is to not finalize some paperwork with the USDOT, rather than order the MTA to stop implementation

Yes, it was bond interest payments on $15B worth of bonds, these things are planned years in advance and disrupting that planning hurts the MTA's ability to work with contractors significantly, especially just weeks before final implementation.

It'll turn those places from rural to small town urban real fast, and hopefully relieve price pressure a bit in other cities, so wins all around

I work on Flatbush north of Atlantic and it's one of the most nightmarish streets in the city. Treacherous to cross, gridlocked to hell at all hours of the day, and nobody is gonna be happy with any changes that'd make it better.

in Elden Ring you can set "passwords" which just show some messages that other players with that same password set have left (messages are always present, but if you have a password set you can see more from a select group). They also can give you mild boosts to rune collection, nothing much.

Last time I was in Germany, I ordered the spicy sauce at a Doener shop and the guy said "you sure? it's pretty spicy." I told him I'm American and he laughed and said "it's not that spicy." It was not that spicy (but it was spicy by German standards)

I remember teaching a class where we talked about this in 2012 and my students COULD NOT IMAGINE not being on their parents insurance, and I had to gently tell them that I turned 18, moved out, and immediately had no health insurance. They barely believed me 12 years ago!
