As someone that voted for him in the 2020 general and the 2024 primaries I think it's so fundamentally antidemocratic to do this that I am not sure I'll ever forgive anyone that gets in this bandwagon whether it succeeds or fails

I've talked to a lot of old East Germans who talked about how carefree their youth was, and then they'd mention offhandedly their acquaintance who got shot trying to cross the border, or the time someone disappeared for a few weeks, or the time the Stasi asked them about an album they owned

I decided to not watch the debate and it is interesting that nothing I've read really seems to indicate to me *what* actually happened except that a lot of Dems are panicking, even as I read through some of the summaries of various bits, and had no impression that Biden was performing poorly

I think the phenomenology of many entry level/low level white collar jobs is largely that my work makes no difference societally or even organizationally, so it must be bullshit. Also, the idea that my job wouldn't exist in a better society is compelling! So they must be bullshit! tldr: all vibes

Yes, it was bond interest payments on $15B worth of bonds, these things are planned years in advance and disrupting that planning hurts the MTA's ability to work with contractors significantly, especially just weeks before final implementation.

I work on Flatbush north of Atlantic and it's one of the most nightmarish streets in the city. Treacherous to cross, gridlocked to hell at all hours of the day, and nobody is gonna be happy with any changes that'd make it better.

in Elden Ring you can set "passwords" which just show some messages that other players with that same password set have left (messages are always present, but if you have a password set you can see more from a select group). They also can give you mild boosts to rune collection, nothing much.

Last time I was in Germany, I ordered the spicy sauce at a Doener shop and the guy said "you sure? it's pretty spicy." I told him I'm American and he laughed and said "it's not that spicy." It was not that spicy (but it was spicy by German standards)

I remember teaching a class where we talked about this in 2012 and my students COULD NOT IMAGINE not being on their parents insurance, and I had to gently tell them that I turned 18, moved out, and immediately had no health insurance. They barely believed me 12 years ago!
