We've spent the last couple of days in Preston as OH graduated as PhD in astronomy from the University of Central Lancashire yesterday. Looked very distinguished in robes and floppy bonnet and I'm so proud of him!

Still feeling wobbly with the flu but sick of hanging around indoors so we drove to Ambleside to look for a cat. But not just any cat! This is Riley (as in Life of...) the unofficial town cat. Local folk looked after her and paid for this cute little life-sized statue as a tribute after she died.

I've just set up a new mobile phone contract as the b*ggers at O2 whacked my monthly bill up to nearly £22! On a pay-as-you-go SIM only with no contract length but they're claiming I'm "out of my contract period"! Found one for only £8 (for the same minutes etc) which is a LOT more reasonable...
