When you combine this with the push to end birthright citizenship and start mass deportations it's hard not to see what they're actually up to. It's not about a "redundant" effort to ban non-citizens from voting as much as an effort to redefine who is a "non-citizen"
ending birthright citizenship means neither me nor my nephew would be citizens. my father was an immigrant and my sister was an immigrant (she is my cousin by blood and we adopted legally). I know we are not the only exception. practicing this kind of casta politics will backfire.
It’s also political theatre to play to the base. The appearance of doing something without actually doing anything at least in terms of non-citizens voting.
Getting lectured in “election integrity,” or any other kind of integrity by these two assholes is mind boggling. Next they will be telling me that tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans are somehow going to make my life better! Oh, wait!!
They don’t think highly of their supporters smarts.
🎯the goal is a flexible cultural/ideological apartheid: a system where they decide who is “in” and who is “out.” Your status as a member of the “in-group” is always provisional, and can be rescinded at the pleasure of the regime. Authoritarianism 101: your rights are subject to your obedience.
