this is where dems not having the same kind of billionaire donor class with money to burn really hurts us, and i think there's a deeply unpleasant conversation to be had with, say, marc cuban about what he wants in exchange for signing a large check addressed to the "fuck john roberts society"

Not to beat a dead horse but they don't even need to burn billions to do it. They have entire highly profitable multi-million/billion dollar media operations in radio, tv, internet, and print that do it earning fortunes. The RW billionaires still fund these ops but it is supplemental.

I mean, LBJ (and by extension getting the civil rights acts passed) was funded by old-timey racist TX oilmen and construction interests. It shouldn’t need to be that way but especially post-Citizens United it probably is (sadly most of the big money on the left has milquetoast centrism as their ask)

It's probably true that in the country you have there is benefit to weighing on what progressive billionnaires there are but I think the actual issue is that "billionnaire" isn't a nonpartisan category. The problem is the inequality that allows ppl with money to buy a political party to begin with.
