I'm just catching up here so haven't read the decision yet, but does it at all define "official" or is just as you say, SCOTUS knows it when it sees it.

There was something about it going back down to lower courts. I haven’t read it through either bc work surprises and landlord visits and monday emails, oh my

It didn’t design a test, just a couple of guidelines for lower courts to use: 1) official acts are things your office entitles you to do, and you’ve got absolute immunity for some of those, presumptive for others; 2) courts can’t consider your motive for doing official acts
