Our political processes proved to be incapable of (1) preventing Trump from becoming president; and then (2) removing him from office for his obvious wrongdoing. And now our judicial processes have been neutered by this decision, which is the work of a malevolent SCOTUS majority, nothing else.

The really bitter irony here is that SCOTUS is making the president a king while a Democrat is president. They aren't worried about it because they know Democrats won't accept Biden actually acting the way they are saying he can.

The Republican party as a whole is unfit to govern. They must be defeated in as many races as possible. I am not a political strategist, so I will not blather on about how this can be accomplished. But it must be the essential goal of the Democratic party, and they must attract many allies.

I commend Adam Kinzinger for issuing this forceful and articulate endorsement of Joe Biden for re-election.

Hard-core Trump supporters wrote off Kinzinger long ago, but a message like this can still influence persuadable Republican voters.

No one, not even a sitting justice of the Supreme Court, is above the law. Regarding Clarence Thomas, a good first step would be an investigation be the Senate Judiciary Committee. They should hold hearings and issue a report, which could include a referral for a criminal investigation.

The percentage of voters who truly believe the "insane, reality-denying Trumpist party line" is shockingly large, but still far from a majority. Nevertheless, it represents a profound danger to the future of this country. The true believers are caught up in a mass psychosis that comes from Trump.

If I were a Democratic pollster, I would be doing daily polling on: "Should Donald Trump drop out of the race in light of his conviction on 34 felonies?" I see this as a way to shift the Overton Window. The first poll I saw on that question has 49% of Independents saying Trump should drop out now.

Everywhere you look, it is clear that Republicans no longer believe in democracy. They know they cannot win elections legitimately, because their ideas are terrible. So, instead they resort to voter suppression and stunts like this. It would laughable if the stakes were not so deadly serious.
